Online Casino - BlackjackHIT or STANDThe meaning of “hit” in blackjack is to take another card, which the player motions on the table by scraping the table with the cards or another similar hand gesture. To “stand” denotes the player doesn't wish to receive any more cards. This is signified by placing your cards under your bet or alternatively by moving your hand in a horizontal fashion. If the player hits (receives another card) & goes over 21 (busts), they turn their cards over and whatever bet made is lost. DOUBLE DOWNIf the player feels he is in an advantageous position after receiving his first two cards, he is allowed to double the initial bet & take one additional card to hopefully improve the hand. SPLITTING PAIRSIf a player receives a pair in his first two cards, he may chose to split them (splitting) into two separates playing hands. Then he will wager the same amount on each hand, which will be played separately. If he received Aces he may get only one additional card. Subsequent to the split , an Ace with ten (10) counts only as 21 & not as a blackjack. INSURANCEIf the up card of a dealer is an Ace, the player has the choice of whether to take insurance or not; this is a bet not more than one-half of the initial wager made. If it transpires that the dealer's down card is in fact a ten (10) or any one of the face cards, also valued at ten (10), then the player will win 2:1. Any different card than a ten (10) or face card, means a win for the dealer. SOFT 16 & 17Soft is determined as a hand made with an Ace that worth 16 or 17. Casinos have specific rules that the dealer must comply by in the hand that they play on any given situation. The dealer should always draw an additional card on a 16 and stand if they have a 17. In a few casinos, this is slightly difference, the dealer must also draw on soft 17, which gives the casino extra house advantage. SURENDERIn certain casinos that allow this, if the player feels that his first two cards are a bad hand, he may give them up & only lose half of his initial wager.
