Card Down (blackjack)
An announcement to the floor person that a card has gone off
the table.
A dealer never reaches down to pick up a card, as that would
expose their tray to stealing.
Card Down (poker)
The situation in which a card has been dealt off the table or
otherwise dropped to the floor,
and a floor person must be called to pick up the card, because,
in many casinos and card rooms,
the house dealer is not permitted to retrieve the card, nor
is a player. If a card falls on the floor, the dealer
may announce, "Card down," and a floor person comes
over to pick it up. Whether the card or cards that fell to
the floor are still live or dead is subject to individual card
room interpretation.
