Cut the Deck (blackjack)
After a dealer has shuffled a deck, it must be cut in two by
a player and the first card(s) must be burned before a hand
may be dealt to insure the integrity of the game.
The dealer will usually rotate the player to cut from left to
right.
Cut the Deck poker
Participate in a quick method of determining the player to first
deal when a game starts, or apportion odd chips at the end of
a private game. Each player takes a portion of the deck, similar
to the way a cutter cuts the deck, and then turns up his section
so that its bottom card is exposed; the player who cuts either
the highest or, by agreement, the lowest, card wins.
