Lay the Odds (poker)
To wager more money on a proposition or situation than you can
win. This does not necessarily mean you have the worst of it;
it just means you're putting up more than the other wagerer.
For example, if the odds are 4-to-1 against a particular event,
and you lay the odds of 3-to-1 against someone, you have the
best of it.
