Southern Cross poker
A form of Cincinnati, in which each player is dealt five cards
face down, and nine cards are dealt face down in the center,
in the form of a cross, forming five vertical and five horizontal
cards, with each player allowed to combine any or all of either
the vertical or horizontal cards together with his original
cards in forming a five-card hand. The widow cards are turned
up one at a time, usually clockwise or counterclockwise from
the outside, working inward, with the center card turned up
last, each followed by a betting round. Some play that the center
card and others of the same rank are wild. In a variation, called
X marks the spot, the widow consists of five cards, forming
two rows of three.
