Spades (poker)
1) One of the four suits in a deck of cards, whose symbol
is shaped like an inverted valentine with a stem. Originally,
spades may have represented the peasant class, the spade being
an instrument used by farmers. In both the traditional and four-color
deck, they are black.
2) A spade flush, that is, five cards of the same suit, all
spades. "I've got a straight; whadda you got?" "Spades."
